Member of Parliament for Daboya-Mankarigu constituency and deputy health minister, Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini has expressed gratitude to the leadership of Nana Akuffo-Addo administration for coming to the aid of his constituents when the road between Daboya and Busunu was washed away by heavy downpour last week.
Hon. Asei Seini said the contractor working on the Busunu-Daboya road has resumed construction works to salvage the situation and help the people of the area to regain their economic and social lives.
The deputy health minister was speaking at site where the Logistics Support Ltd, a construction firm working on the road returned to site to fix the problem.
The Hon MP said when he received information about the flooding, he quickly contacted the right authorities to get the road fix.
“When the road got washed off, I quickly placed a call on the contractor to inform him about it and he told me he has moved back to the site to fix the portion of the road”.
“I further contacted the North Gonja DCE to find out whether the contractor has indeed returned to the site to work on the road.
Today I am here to see for myself the extent of damage caused by the flood and progress of work so far”.
Alhaji Asei Seini commended the contractor for moving his equipment to site and assured commuters or road users that the road will be fixed to allow access to other parts of the district and Savannah region at large.
Alhaji Asei Seini said as a leader, you don’t only lament over issues but also find solutions to the situations such as this.
He added that there is the need for the entire road to be redesigned to avert future disasters.
The North Gonja DCE Hon. Adam Eliasu who was in the company of the MP lauded, the constituency lawmaker for the immediate steps taken in ensuring that the road is fix to allow the movement of vehicles as well as goods and services.
He appealed to residents to give their maximum support to the construction firm for the progress of the work and its subsequent completion.
Residents have been worried over the poor nature of the road, which is in a deplorable state subsequently leading to the Cut-off through rains.
The road from Busunu to Daboya got cut off by floodwaters after a heavy downpour on Saturday, September 11, 2021, bringing movement of vehicles and humans to a halt between the two communities.
The road is one of the two major routes from the capital of the North Gonja district, Daboya to, other parts of the region and Ghana.
