Ghana’s ex-President John Dramani Mahama said his government’s records in infrastructure development in the Savannah region is unmatched.
The 2020 NDC Presidential candidate stated this on radio Peace and Development (Radio PAD 95.1) at Damongo on Friday August 20, 2021, during his thank you tour to the Savannah region.
John Mahama said the various developmental projects undertaken under his administration in the region has closed the infrastructure gap and to a large extent, alleviated the plight of the ordinary person in the region.
John Mahama told the host Abdulai Nuhu Zulka that the construction of the Fufulso-Sawla road project and the ancillary facilities such as markets, lorry parks and schools, the construction of Daboya-Busunu road, the bridge, upgrading of the Damongo hospital, building of new ones across the region such as Bamboi Polyclinic, Sawla district hospital, Buipe Accident and Emergency Hospital, Daboya SHS, Mpaha SHS, Buipe Shea Factory, among others did open up the area and closed the infrastructure gap.
John Mahama added that under his administration “senior high schools across the area received facelift in terms of infrastructure raging from classrooms, dormitories, dining halls and distribution of schools buses and uniforms”.
Earlier, the former President paid courtesy calls on the Laribanga Chief Imam, Chiefs and people of the community.
The Chief Imam of Laribanga, Alhaji Mumuni Zankawa eulogized the ex-president and urged him to keep the peace and fight on.
Imam Zankawa likened John Mahama’s situation to that of the holy prophet of Muslims.
“Prophet Muhammed, when his own people neglected him and he moved from Mecca to Madina, he succeeded and returned to Mecca. Today, the whole world is full of Muslims. So as the Prophet did, so shall you”.
Imam Zankawa urged John Mahama to remember the area when retuns to power.
At the Jakpa Palace, the Overload of Gonja Kingdom Yagbonwura Tutumba Bore Essa I, commended John Mahama over what he described as a well-fought battle in the 2020 general elections.
“I want to commend and congratulate you and your teeming supporters for a battle well fought during the 2020 general elections. Mr. former president, you are a hero because you did your part by serving your sovereign country Ghana. The Almighty Allah will guide and lead you to success,”
John Mahama was also commended for allowing peace prevail in the country after December 7, 2020 presidential elections.
“We are proud of you and words of description, joy and happiness cannot demonstrate our appreciation to you for not taking the law into your own hands. I wish to refer you to a verse in Proverbs which says, ‘for though the righteous fall seven times, they will rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes,'”
John Mahama was on the thank you tour with his running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, former Chief of Staff Mr. Julius Debrah, National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the party’s 2020 Campaign Manager Professor Joshua Alabi and a host of others.
