The Member of Parliament for Walewale Constituency, Dr. Kabiru Mahama, has commended the Member of Parliament for Damongo, Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor, for his contributions to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Savannah Region, describing him as a key figure in the party’s political activities.
Dr. Kabiru made the remarks on Friday, October 30, 2026, during the commissioning of a newly constructed NPP Savannah Regional Office Complex in Damongo, an initiative funded by the Damongo MP, Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor.
The event brought together constituency executives of the NPP across the Savannah Region, alongside regional party executives from the Upper West, Northern and Bono East regions.

Speaking on behalf of the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and the entire Minority Caucus in Parliament, Dr. Kabiru said the caucus was pleased with the work of the Damongo MP and considered the commissioning an important occasion that members would have loved to attend personally.
He described Abu Jinapor as a confident and articulate parliamentarian whose contributions to parliamentary business have earned him recognition among his colleagues.

According to him, the Minority Caucus sees the Damongo MP as an important figure in its parliamentary activities, particularly in holding the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) accountable.
Dr. Kabiru further disclosed that the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, had intended to personally attend the commissioning because of the significance of the facility, which he described as the first of its kind in Northern Ghana and one of the most impressive party office complexes in the country.
He, however, conveyed the former Vice President’s apologies, adding that Dr. Bawumia had expressed his intention to personally visit the Savannah Region to inspect the facility and use it for future party programmes and meetings.

Dr. Kabiru also urged party supporters and executives in the Savannah Region to rally behind Samuel Abu Jinapor, stressing that the party should recognise and support individuals who contribute to its growth and development.
He cautioned against internal divisions and actions that could undermine the political fortunes of the Damongo MP, using a tree as an analogy to emphasise the need to nurture promising political leadership.
“Do not be the enemy that will cut down the tree. Because the tree will grow, flower, bear fruits, and produce sweet fruits for all of us to enjoy,” he stated.

The Walewale MP further described Abu Jinapor as a mentor and benefactor to young parliamentarians, revealing that he had personally benefited from the Damongo MP’s mentorship since entering Parliament.
He explained that, under Parliament’s mentorship arrangements, he was assigned to Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor, whose guidance, he said, had contributed to his parliamentary experience and development.
Dr. Kabiru consequently challenged the people of the Savannah Region, particularly the youth and women, to recognise the importance of mentorship and the opportunities that could arise from the Damongo MP’s leadership and commitment to developing others.

He maintained that Abu Jinapor’s influence should extend beyond his parliamentary responsibilities to empowering and mentoring more young people from the Savannah Region.
The Walewale legislator also expressed confidence in the working relationship between the Damongo MP, the NPP flagbearer and the Minority Caucus, urging party members to give them their maximum support.

He concluded by expressing hope that the 2028 general elections would bring electoral success for the NPP, mentioning Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential ambition and Samuel Abu Jinapor’s parliamentary seat in Damongo.
The commissioning of the Savannah Regional NPP Office Complex marks a significant addition to the party’s infrastructure in the region, providing a facility for party administration, coordination and future political activities.
