The Cashew Traders and Exporters Association of Ghana (CTEAG), West Gonja Branch, in collaboration with the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), has reiterated the approved minimum producer price of GH₵12.00 per kilogram for raw cashew nuts and warned against illegal buying activities within the West Gonja Municipality.

According to the joint directive, the approved price applies to raw cashew nuts with a minimum out-turn of 46, nut count of 190, and moisture content of 10 percent or below. Any individual or entity found purchasing or selling cashew below the approved price will be deemed to have violated TCDA regulations and will face appropriate sanctions.

The Association further stressed that only aggregators licensed by the Tree Crops Development Authority are permitted to buy cashew in the municipality. Cashew trading by unlicensed persons has been declared illegal, and offenders will be arrested and prosecuted in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service.

To strengthen regulation and ensure compliance, the TCDA and CTEAG announced plans to soon commence an official registration and verification exercise for all cashew aggregators, traders, and exporters operating in the area. Operators will be required to present valid TCDA licenses and relevant operational documents for inspection.

Speaking on behalf of the Association, Mr. Iddrisu Sumani (Azambuja), Municipal Chairman of CTEAG, West Gonja Branch, said the directive is aimed at protecting cashew farmers, ensuring fair pricing, eliminating illegal trading practices, and promoting transparency within the cashew industry in the Savannah Region.
