The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency, Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, has emphasized the critical importance of land as Ghanaโ€™s most valuable natural resource and a cornerstone of sustainable development. Speaking at the maiden Annual Busunu Homecoming Durbar held in Busunu on Saturday, December 27, 2025, he delivered the keynote address on the theme โ€œNatural Resources as Our Wealth: Harnessing Them for the Present and the Future.โ€ He stressed that effective land managementโ€”anchored in integrated planning, strong governance, and active citizen participationโ€”is essential to ensuring long-term communal prosperity.
Alhaji Sulemana called on traditional authorities to legally protect lands through the establishment of Stool Lands Secretariat in every traditional area to enhance transparency, improve administration, and prevent land-related disputes. He also highlighted his personal and ancestral ties to Busunu and the wider Gonja area, reaffirming his commitment to the community.

Describing the durbarโ€™s theme, โ€œDriving Together One Community, One Shared Future,โ€ as timely, he urged unity, peace, and collective action while encouraging the preservation of the Gonja language and cultural heritage.
On development, the Deputy Minister assured the Busunuwura that concerns raised would be conveyed to President John Dramani Mahama. On behalf of the President, he unveiled a five-year development plan (2026โ€“2031) for the Busunu Traditional Area and donated GHยข49,500 towards completing the Busunu Community Centre, a gesture warmly received by traditional leaders and residents.
