FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STATEMENT BY YAGBONWURA BII-KUNUTO JEWU SOALE I ON THE
LUKULA CONFLICT
For the past few days, Lukula and its environs under the Wasipe Traditional area in the North
Gonja District of the Savannah Region have been characterized by tension between the people of the Wasipe traditional area and the Janga traditional area in the North East Region resulting in one death and destruction of properties.
The situation is quite unfortunate and deserves condemnation in no uncertain terms.
The people of Gonja and Mamprugu in these two great Kingdoms have coexisted peacefully
over the years without any problem, and I am by this statement calling on all individuals and
groups involved in the conflict to lay down their arms and give peace a chance.
I am also calling on all sons and daughters of the two traditional areas who have inculcated the
habit of using social media to foment troubles, to desist from such acts and allow the Security Agencies and responsible authorities to handle issues amicably.
Whiles traditional authorities of the two Kingdoms are working assiduously with the security councils of the North East and Savannah Regions to get the issue resolved, I call on the security agencies to exercise restraint on the arrest of the people of Daboya while they maintain peace and order in the area.
I conclude by calling on all sons and daughters of the two kingdoms to remain calm while the
appropriate institutions responsible for boundary demarcations as well as the law enforcement
agencies take the necessary steps to restore sustainable peace in Lukula and its environs.
