The West Gonja office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has extended a helping hand to those affected by a devastating flood in the Busunu area .
This act of compassion by NADMO marks the second round of support for these individuals, prompted by the timely response of the Member of Parliament for the Damongo constituency, who after receiving a report outlining the pressing needs of the flood victims, promptly contributed a generous cash donation and bags of rice to support them.
The second phase of support was handed over to the beneficiaries on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in Busunu by Mr. Adam Bavug, the Municipal NADMO Director.
According to the West Gonja Municipal NADMO Director, the support was crucial as the residents of Busunu had endured severe flood damage due to heavy rains in the area recently.
He explained that NADMO had conducted a thorough needs assessment to ensure that the relief items met the specific requirements of the affected individuals.
The items presented included mattresses, blankets, plastic mats, bathing soap, plastic basins, rubber bowls, and cups through the collective effort of the Member of Parliament and the Municipal Chief Executive for West Gonja, who spearheaded the Disaster Management Committee in facilitating this relief support.
Mr. Bavug expressed gratitude for their support and noted that he had initially planned to make the presentation alongside the Municipal Chief Executive, who chairs the Disaster Management Committee. However, due to prior commitments, the MCE was unable to attend.
