In the wake of the Sor No.1 bridge overflow in the West Gonja municipality, Mr. Adam Bavug, the Municipal Director of NADMO (National Disaster Organization) has offered reassurance to those impacted by the bridge overflow which has cut off access to and from the Sor Area.
According to him, upon learning of the incident on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Mr. Bavug arranged for a canoe from Daboya in the north Gonja district to assist stranded commuters who couldn’t cross to Sor or the business town of Damongo.
He expressed concern about the added costs commuters had to bear due to the canoe services and cautioned farmers to avoid their fields to prevent potential loss of life.
Mr. Bavug pledged that affected victims would receive compensation once his office receives relief items from the government.
He also made an appeal to the government and other stakeholders to support the people of the Sor Electoral Area and farmers using this route.
