The West Gonja Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Yakubu Yussif Castro, has officially handed over a newly completed 3-unit classroom block with auxiliary facilities to Kurabaso Junior High School (JHS) Block “B”.

The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday, 27th January 2026, at the forecourt of the new classroom block. The event was witnessed by the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Osman Nuhu, the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Gorden Kumatey, members of the Kurabaso School Management Committee, teachers and students.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Yakubu Castro urged both teachers and students to make effective use of the new facility to further enhance teaching and learning outcomes. He commended Kurabaso JHS for being one of the consistently high-performing schools in the municipality and expressed confidence that the new infrastructure would further improve academic excellence.

The MCE also emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy school environment. He advised the school administration to uphold high standards of hygiene, noting that “cleanliness leads to godliness” and aligns with the broader development agenda of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

Hon. Castro disclosed that the classroom block project was initiated about a year ago by the former Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Karim Kusubari. He noted that upon assuming office, he ensured the successful completion of the project to support effective teaching and learning in the area.
He further encouraged school authorities to develop a strong maintenance culture and to promptly notify his office should the facility begin to show signs of deterioration, assuring them of swift intervention.

Touching on land-related challenges, the MCE cautioned individuals encroaching on the school’s land to desist from such activities. He assured the community that the Assembly would engage affected persons to explore alternative settlement options in order to maintain a peaceful and conducive learning environment.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Yakubu Castro expressed gratitude to members of the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, the School Management Committee, the Municipal Director of Education, and the entire staff of Kurabaso Junior High School for their continued cooperation and commitment to educational development in the municipality.
