In a shocking turn of events, two personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service have been apprehended by the Damongo Police for their alleged involvement in the fatal beating of 27-year-old Shirazu Nuhu. The incident, which occurred on December 9, 2023, has left the community in disbelief and mourning.
Eyewitnesses report that the two fire officers, along with others who are currently evading arrest, subjected the victim to brutal torture, suspecting him of stealing a mattress. The ordeal unfolded at approximately 4 pm, ultimately leading to Nuhu’s demise on December 13, 2023.
Zakaria Mudasiru, the deceased’s brother, condemned the actions of the officers and their accomplices, describing them as barbaric.
He urged a thorough investigation to ensure all those involved face legal consequences, emphasizing the family’s demand for justice.
Following the tragic incident, the family carried out the burial of Shirazu Nuhu in accordance with Islamic traditions. Prior to the interment, medical examinations were conducted at St. Anne’s Catholic Hospital in Damongo.
The Ghana Police Service is expected to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter, aiming to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death and bring accountability to those responsible.
