Former MP and parliamentary candidate elect for the Damongo constituency, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu Garlus urged that the current MP for Damongo and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources steps aside for him come 2024 if he lacks the lobbying skills to be able to get development for the area.
According to him, the current Mp who is a cabinet minister and once worked at the office of the president has failed the constituents as he is not able to lobby for a common US$40 million to undertake the Damongo water project.
He also stated that he has a track record when it comes to infrastructural development and no politician in the Constituency can match with him, adding that, his footprints are everywhere in the constituency.
” there is no community in the Damongo constituency that I don’t have footprints, no community” he said.
He also indicated that he lost the seat based on lies and believes that the lies that were told in 2020 will come back to bite the lies teller come 2024.
He also stated that, getting the Damongo – fufulso Road worked on was not an easy task, noting that the former President John Mahama on countless times acknowledged his efforts and role played in the realization of the Damongo Road project and therefore hoping to do more when given the mandate again.
He made this statements in an interview with our reporter, Kumatey Gorden after he was declared winner at the just ended NDC presidential and parliamentary primaries held on Saturday, 13th May, 2023 at Damongo.
On party unity, Hon Garlus stated that he is bent on bringing his opponent on board to build a united front for the Unity of the NDC in the Damongo constituency ahead of the 2024 general elections.
He also described his contender, Lawyer Baba Zankawah as a brother with whom he contested for the position of District Chief Executive in 2009 and had since remained united and friends.
