Savannah Regional Minister Hon. Saeed Muhazu Jibril has on Thursday 20th January, 2022 inspected ongoing asphalt overlay works on roads within the Damongo township.

Speaking to the media after the inspections, Hon. Muhazu Jibriel explained that, the overlay works forms part of President Akuffo Addo’s year of roads initiative of which Damongo is fortunate to be benefiting from and, said the 15km of the Damongo inner roads and 4.1 km of the Fufulso – Damongo – Sawla highway will benefit from the asphalt overlay initiative by the government.

The minister disclosed that the reason for which the government is asphalting the roads is to increase the life span of the roads by adding an asphalt overlay of 1.7cm thickness to the already existing asphalt so as to give a facelift to the roads in other to enhance the socio-economic growth and development of the residents.

He added that, works on the newly constructed roads abandoned by contractors due to cash constraints will soon commence as government held cabinet on issues of payment and committed to paying all outstanding arrears of certificates raised by such contractors to speed up work.
