President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo – Addo on Sunday, 26th February, 2023 joined the Chiefs and people of the Gonja state for the 7th Day Funeral rites of Late Gonja King, Yagbonwura Sulemana Tuntumba Jakpa Bore – Essa ( I ) at the Jakpa palace in Damongo.

Addressing the people, President Akufo – Addo expressed his solidarity with the people of Damongo and the Gonja state on the passing of the King.

He described the late yagbonwura as a great king not because he occupied one of the great skins and stools of the country, but by virtue of his own comportment and conduct as a Chief.

The President noted that, two things comes to his mind when he thinks of the late King, first being the contributions he made as a member of the three eminent chiefs in the resolution of the Dagbon crisis which helped him in the governance of the country as President and that, the history of the country will never forget the contributions of the late Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore – Essa ( I ) and his participation in that successful enterprise.

He donated Ghc 100,000, 50 bags of rice, 5 bags of Maize, 5 bags of Cassava and a bull in support of the funeral of the late Yagbonwura who died on Sunday, 5th February, 2023.
