His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has sent a heartfelt message to the Ghana Catholic Bishop’s Conference (GCBC), commending the nation’s bishops for their unwavering commitment to peace, justice, and service to the poor.
The message, delivered on behalf of the Holy Father by His Excellency Most Rev. Julien Kaboré, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, was addressed to Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Bishop of Sunyani and President of the GCBC, during the opening of the 2025 Plenary Assembly in Damongo.

Pope Leo XIV expressed his spiritual closeness to the bishops gathered under the theme “A Synodal Church at the Service of Justice and Peace in Ghana,” praising their devotion to dialogue, unity and compassion.
He prayed that the days of prayer and fraternal dialogue may yield much spiritual fruit and strengthen their mission to serve all, especially those who suffer from injustice and long for peace.
Entrusting the bishops and the Church in Ghana to the maternal intercession of Mary, Mother of the Church, the Holy Father imparted his Apostolic Blessing as a sign of communion, hope, and peace in the Lord.
The message, signed by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, reaffirmed the Vatican’s solidarity with the Church in Ghana and its ongoing witness as a beacon of moral leadership and unity across Africa.
