Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew has blamed poor preparations as the reason for their defeat against Morocco in their opening game of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, Kickgh reports.
The Al Sadd forward, started and went on to last the entire duration of the game but wasn’t enough as Ghana slipped to a painful loss after conceding a heartbreaking goal in the final ten minutes of the game.
Speaking to GOAL after the game, the 32 year old has stated injuries and missing the absence of some players made their preparations very slow but hopeful of beating Gabon in their next game. He said;
“[We were missing] a lot of things. The preparations wasn’t the best, we’ve been missing players, some of them only joined us here, we’ve had injuries.”
“We know it’s not the best way in which to prepare ourselves, but there are no excuses. We’ll go home, we’ll relax, and we will make sure we beat Gabon on Friday.”
Coach Milovan Rajevac’s men will take on the Panthers of Gabon- who also won against Comoros last night this Friday in their second group game.
