(Damongo) – The communication Directorate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Savannah region has on Saturday 16th October, 2021, taken their media encounter tour with all radio stations in the region to the studios of Radio for Peace and Development (PAD FM) at Damongo in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah region.
while on a live Radio discussion, the Regional Communication Director, Mr Mohammed Issah explained that the creation of the Savannah region by the president Akufo-Addo led NPP government has opened up Gonjaland with several regional departmental offices and a massive infrastructural development citing the building of the Regional Coordinating Council office complex, the central Gonja District Hospital at Buipe, the Sawla District Hospital, a polyclinic at Bamboi and the construction of some high-way and inner city roads across the Region.
Mr. Issah further explained that, the infant savannah region which they in the NPP refer to as president Akuffo-Addo’s region has been represented more in government and that, the appointees are making great impacts towards the development of the region and Gonjaland than the government of their own brother former President Mahama who gave less privilege to his people.
Madam Lauratu, a National and regional communication team member of the NPP on her part assured the people of Damongo that the Damongo water project which was facilitated by the Managing Director of the Ghana water company, Dr. ing Braimah Clifford and Hon. Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor shall come to pass as plans are far advanced for work to commence.
The communication team led by Mohammed issah held separate encounters to interact with alll radio stations in the region with their managers, producers, editors, Regional Correspondents, bloggers and freelance journalists to fraternize with the media and to consolidate the good relationship that existed between them.
The team in an encounter with the management of padfm in Damongo explained the need for the media to partner with them for the development of the infant savannah region. They emphasized on the need for the media to support government with positive reportage on government interventions and projects happening in the region by taking advantage of governments coordinated mechanisms put in place for the safety of journalist in the country even though the region looks safe for journalist to do their work freely without any intimidations.
The Regional communications team during their Radio tour made some cash donations to PAD FM and other sister radio stations in the region and noted the challenges they face in their operations in the Region.
The Programmes Manager of PAD FM, Iddrisu Adam Afuli on behalf of management thanked the team for their visit and encounter with the staff of PAD FM and reiterated the commitment and readiness of PAD FM to work in the interest of the development of the region with positive reportage.
Mr. Afuli noted that, PAD FM as a community Radio station and the first radio station to be established in the Savannah region seeks to work in championing the common good and development of the people in the region.
