The member of parliament for Damongo and Minister for Lands and Natural resources, Hon. Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor has said, the New patriotic party in the Savannah region is poised to recapture the Salaga south constituency seat come 2024.
The lawmaker said this while addressing the chiefs and people of salaga in the East Gonja Municipality on Sunday, 9th October, 2022 during a regional tour of the savannah region by the vice president of the republic, Dr. Alhaji Mahamud Bawumia.
On the life of the New patriotic party in the savannah region, Hon. Abu Jinapor said, the NPP in the savannah region originated and was commissioned in Kpembe led by J.A. Braimah who won the elections of 1951 and 1956 ( the independence elections) at a time the NPP and the Dankwa – Dombo – Busia traditions were unpopular and not known in Northern Ghana.
He added that, the constituency is the home of the Npp and will definitely come back to the NPP.
The Lands Minister revealed that the New patriotic party lost the seat due to issues that erupted among members of the party in the constituency but assured that, the NPP in the savannah region under the able leadership of professor Kalamonia together with the regional and executives of the salaga south constituency will work to bring unity to the party in that area to ensure the party reclaims the seat.
