The Hon. Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor is fixing all faulty boreholes in the Damongo constituency which have been broken down and not in use.
Mr. Bawa Fuseini ( Capacity ), the Coordinator at the office of the Member of Parliament on behalf of the MP on Friday 10th December, 2021, said the people of Damongo Constituency are faced with serious challenges in accessing potable water over the years and this has been a big worry to the Member of Parliament who saw the need to intervene by repairing all damaged boreholes which are not serving their intended purpose.
Mr. Fuseini noted that, the intervention is just a temporarily measure by the MP and minister for lands and natural resources to reduce the water crisis and to improve on the situation following reports submitted to him regarding the break down of some boreholes in Damongo and some communities within the constituency.
Mr Fuseini indicated that, the water situation is of serious concern to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, and that he is very passionate and worried about it and has therefore released funds for the repairs and laying of pipes for all broken boreholes in the constituency.
He added that, the law maker has for the past weeks been on the toes of government to get portable drinking water for Damongo and it’s environs and that, plans are far advanced to commence work on the Damongo water project early next year.
Some of the communities that have so far benefited from the intervention according to the Coordinator at the office of the Member of Parliament included; Kunkunde, Kabampe, Grupe, Tailorpe, Hangaline, Y.R.A-Damongo among others.
In November this year, Hon. Abu Jinapor commissioned 14 mechanized boreholes in some communities in the constituency and promised to bring in water tankers to supply water to reduce the struggles women in the area go through in search of water amidst the perennial water crisis.
