Greater Canteen Electoral Area Secures Full Restoration of 3 Mechanized Borehole Systems

Greater Canteen Electoral Area Secures Full Restoration of 3 Mechanized Borehole Systems
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Greater Canteen Electoral Area can now breathe a collective sigh of relief as all three major mechanized borehole systems have been fully restored and are functioning optimally to meet the community’s perennial water needs.

Following weeks of water challenges, the Assemblyman, community Imam, chiefs, and opinion leaders made a heartfelt appeal to a distinguished son of Canteen and Accra-based businessman, Alhaji Sulemana Al-Hassan (Alancash). In his characteristic spirit of generosity, he funded the complete repair of all three broken-down systems – including the high-yielding solar-powered borehole, whose panels were recently stolen. This particular facility also supplies water to the ongoing ultra-modern groundnut processing factory.

While the community remains deeply disturbed by the theft of the solar panels, we assure all residents that robust measures have now been instituted to prevent any future acts of sabotage.

The repair works – covering the replacement of solar panels, high-quality submersible pumps, non-return valves, taps, control boards, tubes, and related components – were carried out at:

●The Canteen Market mechanized borehole,

●The Kunzawgu system near Alhaji Musah’s residence, and

●The solar-mechanized borehole at Frafra No. 5 on the Sori road.

This initiative was not a contract, but a purely voluntary and benevolent contribution running into several thousands of Ghana cedis.

In the coming days, the Office of the Assemblyman will roll out Phase Two, which focuses on the full repair of all non-functional hand-pump boreholes across the Electoral Area. Our funding arrangements are nearly finalized, and residents can look forward to even more positive developments.

On behalf of the religious leaders, chiefs, and opinion leaders of the Greater Canteen Electoral Area, I express our profound gratitude to Alhaji Sulemana Alancash – a true son of the land who continues to demonstrate that giving back to society is not a slogan, but a calling. We shall continue to pray for his success in all endeavours.

As we acknowledge this outstanding gesture, we also call on all well-meaning sons and daughters of Canteen to keep our community in their support plans as we work together to build a stronger, progressive, and model community.

To ensure sustainability, non-partisan, functional, and prudent Water Management Boards have been reconstituted across all systems. For example, a five-member committee has been instituted to manage the Kunzawgu borehole, with similar structures replicated for the other facilities. Water management in the Canteen Electoral Area will not remain the same – this we fully assure you.

Water, they say, is life. As community leaders, we remain committed to managing these systems responsibly and transparently for the benefit of all.

May God bless our beloved Canteen and strengthen her people in our collective pursuit of community development.

Forward ever – together we rise. Shalom!

Sincerely,
Ananpansah Bartholomew Abraham
Assemblyman, Canteen Electoral Area
