The Ghana Revenue Authority in the Savannah region bid farewell to Assistant Commissioner Labujata Hamidu, the retired sector commander, during a pull-out ceremony held in Damongo on November 7, 2023.
The event, attended by over 10 regional sector commanders, including the Commissioner of the Ghana Revenue Authority, celebrated Assistant commissioner Labujata Hamidu’s remarkable achievements.
In her farewell address, Labujata Hamidu revealed that the Damongo Collection point had exceeded its revenue tax target of GHC 85,050,000.00 for the year 2023, attributing this success to interceptions of smuggled goods and seized vehicles at checkpoints in Kulmasa, Bole, and Yapei.
Having devoted 32 years to her role, Hamidu highlighted her determination to enhance the Damongo Collection’s performance, recalling her efforts to secure additional posts and checkpoints within the Savannah Region.
Despite facing challenges, including resource shortages and staff reluctance to be posted to Damongo, Assistant commissioner Labujata Hamidu succeeded in surpassing revenue targets.
She appealed for support, particularly in providing official accommodation for officers.
Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari, the Municipal Chief Executive for West Gonja, expressed appreciation for the retired commander’s years of service in the Savannah region, recognizing her as a valuable asset not only to the savannah region but also to the entire nation. He extended well wishes for her retirement journey.
Handing over command to her successor, Kudjo Nyame, Madam Labujata’s legacy was praised by Alhaji Seidu Iddrisu Iddisah, the Commissioner of the Ghana Revenue Authority Customs Division, who commended her resourcefulness in achieving revenue goals.
He emphasized the importance of leadership in utilizing scarce resources effectively.
