St. Francis Xavier parish in Yapei has organized a farewell mass for Rev. Fr. Sylvester kuubetersuur who had work in the parish for the past 7years.

The mass was attended by hundreds of Catholics, other christian faithfuls and Muslims in the central Gonja district of
Savannah Region.

The mass was presided over by Most Rev. Peter Paul Angkyier, the Bishop for the Damongo Diocese. Most Rev Bishop Peter Paul called on the faithfuls not to give up in life because they have God.

“We should never give up in life because God has not given up on us. He made a biblical reference to how and where Jesus was born, saying that Marry was not rich, and she was healed and raised from a poor and smaller community”.

Bishop Peter Paul

In spite of our challenges in our everyday life we should never quit, we should believe in God and we should never lose faith in him and, we should continue to work together whether we attend same church or not, once we are in the same community we are all God’s children and that is why God has brought us together, he added.

Most Rev. Angkyier in his homily conclusion,
prayed for the sick, their care takers that they may be compassionate; they may be gentle, merciful and kind and in that way the sick will experience the closeness of the
lord.

Worried servants expressed varied views because Rev. Fr. Sylvester is taking leave of them. Some said his dedication to the parish and the district is appreciable and cannot be forgotten.

Rev. Fr. Sylvester was hailed by individuals,
organizations, groups of the parish and the district assembly for catering for their spiritual, pastoral, health and educational needs.

The achievement of Rev. Fr. Sylvester cannot be
quantified, in his service in proclaiming the word of God
in a primary evangelization area since he took over the
affairs of the parish in May 2014 from the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (CSSP).
He has been able to build a church, a catechist house, blessed people marriages, sound system for the church and a
church in Sankpala in the central Gonja district.

Rev Fr. indicated that one of his major plans
when he came to the parish was to have a decent place for worship of which he has accomplished. Another priority area was educational infrutratures, which according to him by the grace of God he has been able to put up schools in Sankpala, Yapei and Fulfulso through the help of partners and the bishop.
We also built a computer center in Yapei where students can go and access the internet and also access results as well, he said in an interview with padfm.com.gh.

Filled with joy, Rev. Fr. Sylvester thanked
Most Rev. Peter Paul for supporting and endorsing all this projects and the parishioners for all the support they gave him, both known and unknown during his seven (7) and half years in St. Francis Xavier as the parish priest. He asked parishioners to give more support to Rev. Fr. Gilbert who is the new parish priest for him to continue working. He also pledges to continue supporting them and
will always remember them in prayers constantly.

The Educational Director for Central Gonja, Madam Veronica expressed gratitude to Fr. Sylvester and urged him to continue with his good life and character.

The Director said
achievements and lives touched by Rev. Fr. Sylvester
in the district are unmatched.
A couple of educational infrastructure have been put up across the district by the Diocese through the efforts of Rev. Fr. Sylvester to help improve the inadequate school structures in the district.

The new parish priest Rev. Fr. Gilbert on behalf of the parish, associations, and individuals thanked Rev. Fr. Sylvester for all the wonderful services he rendered to the parish and the district as well.

Most Rev. Peter Paul Angkier later prayed for
God’s grace for the parish in all its endeavors, especially, the new Rev Fr Gilbert, as he takes his new post of office to serve the church, region and Ghana.
