Timely arrival and great fire fighting skill executed by the Ghana National Fire Service has prevented what would have been the biggest fire disaster to hit Damongo township in the West Gonja municipality of Savannah region.
Fuel Tanker with registration number GN 2665-17, believed to be carrying disiel caught up fire at the heart of Damongo (Damongo lorry station) few minutes to 10PM on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
The fire service was contacted when the vehicle caught fire through the back tyres.
Ayisha Ibrahim, an eyewitness speaking to padfm.com.gh news, said but the timely arrival of the Fire Service, the whole township would have burnt down before 12AM.
She explained that the driver of the vehicle must be commended for acting swiftly by using the fire extinguisher to help reduce the effect of the fire. Shortly afterwards, the fire service arrived to put the fire under total control.
