The National health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in the Savannah region celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the National Health Insurance Scheme(NHIS) by conducting a public awareness campaign in Damongo.
Staff of the scheme and other organised groups on Thursday, 30th November, 2023 visited offices, department, agencies and paraded through the principal streets of Damongo, promoting the MyNHIS App and assisted people in downloading it.
In an interview with Padfm, the Regional Director of the NHIA, Chief Dauda Mahama emphasized the App’s convenience, allowing individuals to register or renew their health insurance from home with a Ghana card.
The NHIS is actively collaborating with international communities, aiming for Universal Health Coverage through strategies like digitalization, data management, dissemination, development and decentralization.
As part of the anniversary celebration, free medical screenings and blood donation events were organized.
The NHIA reported increased registrations via the mobile short code, expressing optimism that the MyNHISapp will enhance their membership drive.
As a gesture for the anniversary, *the West Gonja NHIS district office in collaboration with the Municipal department of Social Welfare, free registrations and renewals were offered to indigents and aged in the regional capital.
