The Lola Group from Turkey, in collaboration with the Catholic Diocese of Damongo and the College for Community and Organisational Development (CCOD), has cut-sod for the construction of an Allied health training college in Kusawgu to help improve healthcare and education in the Savannah Region and the whole of the country.

At a sod-cutting ceremony held in Kusawgu, it was revealed that a $26 million investment has been secured for infrastructure development across various locations within the Catholic Diocese of Damongo.

This substantial investment will support the construction of several key facilities, including an Allied health professionals training school, VLSA centres, a hospital, two polyclinics, a technical vocational school, and staff accommodations.

These initiatives aim to tackle the challenges of healthcare access, cost, and the shortage of skilled personnel in the region, thereby enhancing the quality and availability of services.

The new facilities are expected to benefit multiple communities, including Kusawgu, Yapei, Lingbinsi, Tuna, Damongo and Kalba.

Mr. Aiden Ngmenbon, the Diocesan Director of Health Services, emphasized the Diocese’s vision under the leadership of Most Rev. Bishop Peter Paul Y. Angkyier to collaborate with the central government to deliver essential services to underserved communities.

Vivian Terrence Fray( Executive Director, Lola Group, East London ), in a statement on behalf of the Lola Group, expressed excitement about partnering with the Catholic Church in Damongo and CCOD, noting that the investment reflects Lola Group’s commitment to education and community development.
