The Paramount Chief of the Busunu Traditional Area, Busunuwura Monasa Jonokpowu II, has commended John Dramani Mahama and his team for their foresight in establishing a STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Girls School in Busunu.
According to the Chief, the ongoing projects within the traditional area signal a promising future, adding that Busunu stands to benefit significantly from ongoing development efforts. He assured the government of the palace’s full support for the initiative.

Busunuwura Monasa Jonokpowu II made these remarks when the Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe, led a delegation to the Busunuwura Palace to officially inform him of the government’s decision to construct the STEM Girls School on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
Achubunyowura Gbanso Alhassan delivered remarks on behalf of the Paramount Chief during the engagement.
On his part, Salisu Be-Awuribe expressed appreciation to the Busunuwura Palace for allocating land for the project. He noted that the school will feature modern infrastructure, including a two-storey, 36-classroom block, a library, ICT and science laboratories, two boarding facilities accommodating 400 students each, a dining hall, an assembly hall, and 20 teacher bungalows, among other facilities.

The Regional Minister further assured residents of the government’s commitment to bringing more development projects to the Savannah Region and urged stakeholders to support contractors in the execution of their work.
Salisu Be-Awuribe visited the palace with MCE for West Gonja Municipal Assembly Hon Yussif Yakubu Castro, heads of departments, party faithfuls, Hon Assembly Member, contractors, and a consultant.
John Dramani Mahama is expected to officially cut the sod for the project during his upcoming “Thank You Tour” of the Savannah Region.
The project is scheduled to be completed within 18 months by contractors PRIESTLY PEACE VENTURES, MBELAYIM PVT LTD, and ECO-NAA CO. LTD.
