(Damongo) – The Savannah Regional Coordinating Council has ordered the East Gonja municipal and Bole district assemblies to put in place measures for the consideration of Tamimu Mohammed and Alele Veronica as Chief Executive Officers for the two assemblies.
This became necessary after president Akuffo-Addo renominated the two candidates through the Savannah regional minister, Saeed Muhazu Jibril.
The proposed assembly meetings for consideration;
28th October – Bole district -Alele Veronica
30th October, 2021 – East Gonja municipality – Tamimu Mohammed
Per the standing orders, the 21 days period after the president’s nomination of the two nominees has expired for the round one of voting.
Hon Alele Veronica polled less than 50% of the 39 votes (17 yes votes, representing 43.58%) on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Bole.
Section 15 (7) of the MMDAs states that “Any nominee who at any time FAILS to poll FIFTY PERCENT of the votes of the members present and voting “MAY BE RENOMINATED ON REASONABLE GROUNDS OR MAY BE WITHDRAWN BY THE PRESIDEN”.
Alele failed to ganner all 39 votes or at least two/thirds votes of the members present and voting.
Tamimu Mohammed’s consideration program ended abruptly on 4th October, 2021, after some confusion erupted at the East Gonja municipal assembly conference hall, forcing the Presiding Member to cancel the process.
