The Vatican Ambassador to Ghana, H. E. Most Rev. Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski who was in the Catholic Diocese of Damongo on a pastoral visit has on Sunday 22nd August, 2021, launched the 25th Anniversary celebrations of Our Lady Queen of peace parish at Buipe in the central Gonja district of the Savannah region.
The anniversary is under the theme: 25years of Devine Providence.
The mass was celebrated by H. E Most Rev Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski together with the Bishop of the Damongo, Most Rev. Peter Paul Angkyier and scores of priest.
In celebrating the yearlong anniversary, H. E Henryk said, … “25years is a lot and a little at the same time, 25years is a story that gives time of life of one generation and that the parish is one big family of those who follow Christ and therefore the need to live with one another in peace”.
“It is only when the heart of man is restless that leaves man go astray in making lots of mistakes and also, the human is restless until it rest in God and that only God can give one true peace.
Our Lady Queen of peace teaches us not to be consent about the peace in our homes and family, but where we are living: in your parish and where God sends you.
We need to be the operators of peace to show to the world that the Catholic Faith is peace and glory”.
In an address, Rev fr. Hillary Anadu, the Parish Priest for Our Lady Queen of peace, thanked H. E. Most Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski and the Bishop for accepting to inaugurate the silver jubilee celebrations of the Queen of peace parish.
Rev. Fr Hillary Anadu added explained that it was holistic celebrating 25 year of existence, 25 years of Devine Providence, 25 years of in-exhaustible favors, 25 years of achievements and successes, 25 years of spreading the word of God in this part of the world and symbolic that Our Lady Queen of peace parish will have it’s grotto blessed for spiritual growth and for the well-being of all Catholics in the area.
Madam Barchisu ( Bridge wurche) on behalf of the Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, thanked the Catholic Church for their role in the development of the area in the sectors of education, health and peace building. She disclosed that the MP has pledged to support every activity of the Catholic Church not only as Member of Parliament for the area, but also as a member of the Catholic Church.
She appealed the leaders to pray for Savannah region and Ghana at large on behalf of the member of parliament, Hon. John Jinapor.
The Bishop of the Damongo Diocese, Most Rev Peter Paul Angkyier in a closing remark, thanked H. E. Most Rev. Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski for accepting his invitation to visit the Diocese and for coming to Buipe for the inauguration of the jubilee of the Queen of peace parish. His Lordship further thanked him for honouring him and the people of the Diocese and for all the blessings of God brought upon the Diocese. He urged parishioners to keep to peace with one another in their hearts during and after the celebrations to restore the practices and values of the church for which they exist that were lost in the past 25 years to the build the parish.
Most Rev Peter Paul Angkyier acknowledged the efforts made by Dr. Evans who single handedly built a grotto for the parish and urged others to emulate him.
H. E. Most Rev. Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski together with Most Rev Peter Paul Angkyier and thier entourage earlier before the inauguration, made a stop over at the palace of His royal majesty, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II to create his indulgence of their presence and to interact with him.
