The Hon MCE for West Gonja Municipal Assembly in the Savannah region Musah Kusubari Karim has commended the chiefs and people of the area for their support and cooperation during the year 2022 and urged them to sustain the love, support and peaceful coexistence for sustainable growth and development. Peaceful environment leads to development.

Musah Kusubari – MCE West Gonja municipality

Musah Kusubari said despite the global socio-economic challenges, the West Gonja municipal assembly has completed the construction of a police station and accommodation for the police service to ensure the safety and peace of the people. According to him, the structure is completed and ready to be commissioned. The assembly is making plans to get the station water source.

The water situation in Damongo township and other rural communities is something the assembly is working to resolve together with other stakeholders and partners.

Water they say is life and Damongo has always been known for its low water table issues. Whilst waiting on the Damongo water project to start, the assembly with the help of some philanthropists drilled seven (7) boreholes in some rural communities to provide good drinking water. The West Gonja municipality drilled four (4) and the philanthropists drilled three (3). Communities such as Grupe, Kojokura, Achulokura, Batigbonto, Gbantalakura, Kananto, Gurumakura benefited from the partnership. This is done to help provide clean water and improve sanitation related issues, as ordained in the goal six (6) of the sustainable development goals.

With regards to sanitation, solid waste damps in the capital have been a worry to the people of area. Hence, the office held a meeting with tipper trucks drivers in town in a bid to collectively clear all solid waste damps in town. By next Friday, 16th December, 2022 the office will provide fuel for the drivers to embark on this all important exercise for the benefit of all.

Musah Kusubari expressed gratitude to the workers of the municipality, partners, and all stakeholders and called on them to work harder for the forward match of the assembly. He assured that more communities will be provided with water through partnerships with individuals and institutions. The MCE disclosed to PAD FM at his office in Damongo that about eight (8) communities around Damongo still don’t have clean drinking water and promised his office will work with philanthropist and partners to get them water with settlement communities such as Dambakura, Sumanikura among others, expected to benefi.
