The Member of Parliament for Damongo who doubles as Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and caretaker Minister for Trade and industry, Hon. Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor has revealed that plans are underway to give to the people of Larabanga, Damongo and Busunu some Temporal small water systems.
According to the Damongo lawmaker, the move will help reduce the water scarcity situation in the area.
Hon. Jinapor disclosed this whilst addressing some islamic clerics of Larabanga at his constituency office on Saturday, 4th February, 2023 when they met to offer some Quranic recital prayers for the MP.
He explained that the Lasting Damongo water problem has been a long standing issue that has given many people in the area sleepless nights including him and that, he is doing everything possible to get the situation resolved but in the interim, he will be carrying out temporal small water systems that will in the mean time relief the people of the stress the go through in getting water in the area.
The Lawmaker also explained that, the delay in starting the Damongo water project is as a result of the ongoing Ghana – IMF negotiations and that, Nine (9) outstanding water projects including the Damongo water project have been tabled before the International Monetary Fund ( IMF ) for considerations for financial support to be undertaken.
The initiative which will be fully funded by the Damongo MP will give Damongo, Larabanga and Busunu twenty five ( 25 ) small water systems while awaiting the commencement of the main Damongo water project.
He expressed his commitment to continue to work in the interest of the people of Damongo and called on them to continue to be unity irrespective of their ethnicity and religious backgrounds.
He also noted that, alot has been done already in the constituency in the areas of both human and infrastructural development in just two years of his tenure as member of parliament for the area and committed to doing more in the remaining two years of his first term as member of parliament to help improve on their lives of the constituents.
