The Member of Parliament (MP) for Damongo Constituency and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor has on Saturday, 27th November, 2021, made a cash donation of fifty thousand Ghana cedis( Ghc50,000) to Damongo senior high school in the West Gonja municipality of the Savannah Region on the occasion of the the school’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor in an address as Guest speaker at the climax of the schools 50th anniversary emphasized that Damongo senior high school is a very important institution in the Savannah region and in Gonjaland that produced prominent personalities in Ghana such as Dr. Ahmed Jinapor, Dr Clifford Braimah, Hon. Mahama Asei , Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, Hon. Alhaji Sulemana Ori, Hon. lawyer Shaibu Obei, among others and has also played a key role in the revolution of the forward march of the people of Gonja, Gonjaland and Savannah region.
He added that Damongo senior high school has done an extraordinary work in paying her dues towards the socio-economic development of Ghana despite the difficult circumstances from it’s inception and that, it is in the right direction to have all gathered in the school to support the school’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
Hon. Abu Jinapor affirmed his commitment to the development of the school as Member of Parliament for the area, and said he is obliged to work with the management and authorities of the region and that of the municipality to ensure that the school grows from strength to strength.
He noted that, he had supported the school with a brand new pick up and a tricycle (motorking) some few years ago when he was Deputy Chief of Staff and will ensure that, the school gets a befitting school bus, water and other educational materials to enhance the growth of the school.
He hinted that he has charged the regional minister to meet with the management of the school to find immediate measures to address the water crisis of the school and reduce the suffering of students in getting water.
The Minister called on the students of the school to take advantage of all that is at their disposal and take up their studies seriously to become prominent people in future using himself as an example as one who wrote his BECE exams at the school’s dining hall and became what he is today due to the seriousness attached to his studies in the past.
The Ministers cash donation of GHc50,000 is to help in the completion of the schools fence wall initiated by the Old students Association of the Damongo senior high school.
The member of parliament was in the company of the savannah Regional Minister, MDCEs from the region, MP for Daboya and deputy minister for health( Hon. Mahama Asei), Constituency executives of the NPP among others.
