In a remarkable display of unity and camaraderie, the 155 Armoured Regiment in Damongo, alongside various security agencies in the Savannah region, undertook a Unity Walk on Monday, January 1, 2024.
In an exclusive interview with this source, Lt. Col. P. A. Hoffman, the Commanding Officer of the 155 Armoured Regiment, explained that the event marked the first of the year, emphasizing the importance of fostering unity, development, and peace in the region.
The primary objective of the walk according to Lt. col. P. A. Hoffman was to bring together security services, government institutions, and the residents of Damongo, transcending differences for the collective well-being of the region and Ghana as a whole.
Lt. Col. Hoffman stressed the significance of maintaining peace, especially in the context of an upcoming election year, urging the security services to prioritize unity as a cornerstone for the nation’s stability.
The commanding officer envisioned the Unity Walk becoming an annual tradition, expanding its reach to include a broader cross-section of the community.
Expressing gratitude, Lt. Col. Hoffman acknowledged the participation of security and government heads, giving special thanks to the Member of Parliament for Damongo and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor, for sponsoring the event.
Before the Unity Walk, the 155 Armoured Regiment had organized various end-of-year activities, including fun games, relief item donations to flood victims in Buipe, and hosting a lunch for approximately 350 of the flood victims.
The event drew participants from a spectrum of agencies, such as the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons, National Ambulance Service, Forestry Commission, Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Fire Service, Zoom Lion, and NADMO.
