Some Executives of the New patriotic party ( NPP ) in the Savannah region led by it’s regional youth Organizer, Mr. Raphael Mahama Akati on behalf of the regional chairman, Prof.Kalamonia and the entire NPP joined the people of Sonyo to mark this years Deng festival.
The three-day annual Deng festival of the people of Sonyo in the Bole District of the Savannah Region this year started from Friday,19th to Sunday, 21st May, 2023 and witnessed with a colourful durbar of the Chiefs and people from some indigenous ethnic groups in the Bole area including the Vagla, Safalba, Choruba Nomee and Gonjas.
The festival this year was celebrated under the theme; “Harnessing Cultural Potentials for tourism development in Savannah Region”.
Speaking at the Palace of Sonyowura, Mr. Raphael Mahama Akati said, he and his team were in the sonyo community on behalf of the regional chairman, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana and MP for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor to commemorate with them in the celebration of their annual Deng Festival.
He extended to Sonyowura and his kinsmen the felicitations of the two politicians and noted that, the two wished to have been part of the festival this year but were carried away with other equally important activities elsewhere, hence their inability to be part of the celebration this year.
Sonyowura on his part thanked the NPP for joining the people of Sonyo in the celebration of this year’s Deng festival and for their continuous support to him and the people of Sonyo and also appealed to them to support him with a vehicle to enhance his travel activities.
