On Monday, 27th day of February, 2023 at the Japka Palace, Kingmakers of the Gonja Kingdom went to conclave and pursuant to the tradition and custom of the Gonja kingdom announced the selection of the Paramount Chief of the Tulwe traditional area as the next King of the Gonja Kingdom.
The announcement came after the 7th funeral rites of the late King of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Jakpa Boresa I on Sunday, 26th February, 2023 at the forecourt of the Jakpa Palace.
The announcement was made by the Acting Head of the Gonja Kingdom His Royal Majesty Sonyowura Kanyiti ( I ).
The kingdom received the announcement with lots of excitements and jubilations from the Chiefs, youth and the general public across the kingdom.
Gonjaland Youth Association is highly excited at the announcement and commends the Kingmakers under the leadership of Sonyowura Kanyiti I for upholding the culture and tradition of Gonja and indeed, the selection of the next king demonstrates the strength of the kingdom to ensure peace and development in Gonjaland.
We the youth of Gonjaland will not relent in our efforts to support the kingdom in all aspects of our tradition and culture.
Indeed, Gonjaland is our Kingdom and the kingdom of our Great Founder Sumaila Ndewura Jakpa will reign supreme.
