Former Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu Garlus has urged NDC delegates in the Damongo Constituency to vote massively for him in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the NDC come May, 2023 to lead the party into the 2024 general elections as it is going to be a compare and contrast affairs of legacies based on outputs of candidates and parties.

The former ranking member of mines and energy committee in parliament of Ghana stated this on Friday, 24th February, 2024 on Damongo based community radio station, Padfm 95.1mhz morning show.

This comes after he picked the NDC parliamentary nominations form to contest in the upcoming primaries for Damongo constituency.

According to Hon. Garlus, the current Member of Parliament has developed scars on his performance and person interms of output.

“2024 elections will all be about count your achievements and I count my achievements. My legacy in the constituency is unmatched when it comes to development. I can count and trace developmental projects in almost all the communities within the constituency”.

Adam Mutawakilu Garlus believes that, the people of the constituency have seen the difference when it comes to development, and human relations and will surely decide when the time comes.

He stressed that the difference between an MP who wasn’t a cabinet minister and an MP who is a cabinet minister is clear to all now and their outputs will be outlined for the constituents to compare and make a choices.

He further stated that he has unfinished business, therefore necessitating his coming back to contest, citing the comeback of former president John Mahama as a case, he indicated that the former president has unfinished business hence his comeback.

The former legislature said he initiated the women empowerment program through the Village Susu and Loans Associations (Susu groups) in the rural communities and it has helped improved the status of women in the area. He also led in the construction of community CHPS compounds, provision of borehole water to most communities, payment of school fees, employment to the youth, scholarships to constituents, among others.

Garlus added that he has not isolated himself from the party and community activities after he lost power in 2020, stating that he is still supporting funerals and social activities, party activities, payment of dues for branch executives, buying of forms during the branch elections, among others.

When asked about unity in his party at the constituency level, he said in every party there are issues however, he has taken huge steps to settle internal disputes in the party and that the NDC in the Damongo constituency is much United than ever to win the seat back.

He therefore called on party members to remain calm in their internal activities and run campaigns that will not disorganize the NDC towards the 2024 general elections.
