The Savannah Regional Director of Education, Hajia Nantogma Katumi Atta has called on parents who have their wards in schools in the savannah region to allow their wards report to their respective schools.
The regional education director made this call on Monday, 23rd January, 2023 at Damongo.
She explained that the situation came to her attention after she visited the two public senior high schools in the regional capital three weeks after schools had reopened only to meet empty classrooms.
She said in some of the schools visited, less than half of the populations of the various classes had reported with the rest of them sitting back home.
She cautioned that students in the region will be sitting for the same West Africa Senior High School Examination (WASSCE) with their counterparts in other regions in the country and that there is the need for parents to own the schools and ensure that their wards report to school on time whenever schools reopen to enable them begin classes so that the could catch up with thier colleagues in others schools.
Hajia Kantumi lamented that though schools resumed on Tuesday 10th January, 2023 but her visit to the schools revealed that only a little of the populations of the two senior high schools in Damongo had reported to school for the academic business of the term.
