The Daboya-Mankarigu NDC Chairman Hon. Salifu Gbepo Timothy and his men yesterday 29th October 2022 made frantic efforts to fix the part of the Tachali-Daboya road that has been cut off due to heavy downpours and overflow of the Tachali river.
You may recall that on the 24th of October, 2022, some gallant youth of North Gonja District took their fate into their own hands, mobilized themselves to Tachali Lorto to work on the damaged part of the road, to enable vehicles to move freely in and out of North Gonja District. It was an attempt to wake up the District Chief Executive Hon. Adams Eliasu Bawa alias Red Bawa and the Member of Parliament Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini who are sleeping on the job, to live up to the expectations, but as the saying goes, “it is very difficult to wake up someone who is not sleeping ” these people who are being paid by the overburdened taxpayers callously watched from their luxurious abodes in the cities, while the citizens continue to suffer.
The initiative of these gallant youth did not stimulate any moral fibre in the MP and DCE to put measures in place to find a temporal solution to that damaged part of the road that’s impeding the movement of vehicles.
The NDC chairman, Mr Salifu Gbepo Timothy and his men realizing how those in government have failed to find a solution, and being motivated by the self-helped developmental principles of NDC decided to mobilize men with hand tools like pick axes and shovels with tractors to go and find a temporal solution to the part of the road that has been cut off.
They were able to dig up gravel to fill portions of the road and also carried stones to fill very big potholes. Vehicles are now able to move in and out of North Gonja District with ease, and business activities are now back to full operations.
However, it is important to note that, the work that has been done on the road by the NDC chairman and his men is only temporal. We hereby call on the MP, the DCE and the Regional Minister to take urgent steps to fix the road permanently by constructing three additional storm-designed culverts to facilitate the free flow of large volumes of water. The road will be cut off again come next year if stones are used to fill the damaged portion instead of culverts.
Let it be known to the Hon. DCE and the Hon. MP that, they are in office to serve the people and not to serve their parochial interests. Yes, Daboya-Mankarigu Constituency shall rise again when the NDC comes to power God willing after the 2024 general elections, until then, we want to see some positive impacts of the NPP government on the lives of the citizens that gave them power.
NDC shall continue to undertake developmental projects that will impact positively the lives of the people in the Daboya-Mankarigu Constituency even in opposition.
We call on all well-meaning people in the constituency to rally behind NDC to save the citizenry from the bondage of NPP because indeed the NPP government has been a monumental failure.
Long live NDC!
Long live Daboya-Mankarigu Constituency!
