The Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency and minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor has on Saturday, 5th February, 2022 embarked on an inspection tour of some ongoing projects in the Damongo township to ascertain the progress of work.
The Member of parliament’s first stop was at the Damongo town park, where Hon. Abu Jinapor facilitated for the construction of an Astro turf (football pitch) which when completed, will have a fence, pitch, sprinklers and lighting.
Interacting with the engineer at site, the engineer explained that work has steadily started with the grading of the field to enable them have a level ground before the main work begins but assured the member of parliament that, the project will be completed within a period of three months.
From the Damongo town park, the MP’s next stop was at the site where work has begun for the construction of a community centre for the people of Damongo.
According to the MP, the community centre when completed, will have a 300 seater conference hall, a car park, outdoor events area and space for future expansion.
Hon. Abu Jinapor and his entourage also inspected the progress of work on the ongoing asphalt overlay works within the Damongo township and also interacted with them to know if they were faced with some challenges.
Speaking to media after the tour, Lawyer Abu Jinapor expressed satisfaction at the ongoing projects and encouraged the contractors to keep to the timelines of the various projects and called on residents and other stakeholders to cooperate with the contractors working on the Astro turf, community centre and the asphalt overlay as they would create some inconveniences during the period of their work.
The MP who also facilitated for the reconstruction of the Damongo weekly market, attended a short ceremony at the market in the company of Hon. Irene Naa Toshie, who is former MP for Tema West and Administrator for the District Assemblies Common Fund to mark the beginning of the construction of the Damongo Saturday Market.
Hon. Irene Naa Toshie revealed that, the construction of the market will commence immediately and expected to be completed within six months.
The administrator used the occasion to urged the market women to accept relocation when work begins and also asked for their cooperations in other to speed up work as scheduled.
Jinapor was also accompanied by the municipal Chief executive for the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, Hon. Karim Musah Kusubari, DCE for Bole, Hon. Veronica Alele and some constituency executives of NPP.
