Government have been told to use an Effective Change Management Policy (ECMP), as a requirement to address Corruption in order to achieve economic development of the country.
A Ghanaian – United Kingdom based Anti – corruption Activist (ACA), Mr Collins Oppong – Kyekyeku said this on Saturday, at an online dialogue meeting dubbed combating corruption in the country.
According to him, the policies must be tailored to the root causes of corruption, as well as providing strong and reliable monitoring structures adding that “this will promote assurance for accelerated development”.
Mr Oppong – Kyekyeku reiterated that, leadership must be seen to be openly honest, and disciplined to create the enabling environment in the fight against corruption in the country.
“Unless corruption is reduced to the lowest level,leadership and government will not be able to achieve the developmental agenda of the country” the ACA added.
Mr Oppong – Kyekyeku advised leadership of the country, to give urgent attention to broader stakeholder consultation to solicit ideas from individuals, institutions and agencies for socio – cultural development.
He was worried about the resort of national issues and policies to partisan discussions, which ended up in confusion among the populace saying that, we must empower our anti – corruption institutions to work efficiently.
“Both “fix the country” agitation by sections of residents and “fixing the country” responses by party communicators, should rather direct attention to engaging government, to consider reviewing governance system that will give national solutions to corruption fight” he added.
Mr Oppong – Kyekyeku further entreated the government, to show commitment in the fight against corruption by naming, shaming and dealing with offenders in order to deter others from engaging in corrupt practices.
The ECMP approach, he indicated, would resolve the age – long corrupt practices that have threatened the development of the country adding that residents must all contribute their quota to the fight against corruption.
Mr Oppong – Kyekyeku urged the office of the Special Prosecutor and other anti – corruption institutions in the country, to resist all forms of political, religious, traditional ,family and friends interferences.
” As we fight against corruption, let us also remember that COVID – 19 pandemic is real. We must all follow the safety measures of the disease until the country record a zero case” he later noted.
