The Savannah Regional Elections Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has disqualified two aspirants from contesting in the party’s upcoming Savannah Regional Executive Elections following the completion of the vetting process.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 22, 2026, the Committee announced that Mr. Adam Mohammed Mansuru, an aspirant for the position of Regional Youth Organiser, was disqualified after failing to satisfy the constitutional eligibility requirements outlined under Article 15(2)(1) of the party’s constitution. His disqualification leaves Mr. Yakubu Yussif as the sole qualified candidate, making him unopposed for the position.
The Committee also disclosed that Mr. Alpha Omar Yakubu, who was seeking to contest for the position of Regional Nasara Organiser, was disqualified following an assessment of his suitability for the office. Consequently, Mr. Mohammed Marhey Bamba has also been declared unopposed.
The announcement came after the successful completion of the party’s vetting and balloting exercise ahead of the regional executive elections.
Meanwhile, the balloting process set the stage for keen contests in several key positions. For the chairmanship race, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana drew the first position on the ballot, while Dr. Clifford Abdallah Braimah will appear second.
The race for First Vice Chairman will be contested by Aboagye Kwame and Alhaji Braimah Adam, while Mahama S. Mumuni Akotia and Johnson Kwame Gyinde will compete for the position of Second Vice Chairman.
For the Regional Secretary position, Seidu Ayuba and Mohammed Issah will face off, with Sumani Inusah and Sulemana Aminu Mayoyo contesting for Deputy Regional Secretary.
Raphael Mahama Akati was declared unopposed for the position of Regional Organiser, while the Treasurer position will be contested by Abu Lutie and Ali Abubakar.
The Women’s Organiser race features Losina Barikisu, Mohammed Fatahia, and Mahama Sheila Hanatu, while five aspirants—Sulemana Martin Rashid, Mohammed Shiraz-Deen, Kanyiti Saburu Kantama, Mohammed Muniru, and Abubakar Ridwan—will contest for the Communications Officer position.
The Savannah Regional Elections Committee congratulated all qualified aspirants and commended every contestant for their cooperation and commitment throughout the vetting and balloting process.
The Committee further urged all candidates to conduct issue-based campaigns centred on competence, vision, experience, and practical programmes while avoiding personal attacks, character assassination, and actions likely to undermine the unity, discipline, and cohesion of the party.
It expressed confidence that the internal elections would strengthen the party’s democratic credentials, deepen internal unity, and better position the NPP for future political engagements in the Savannah Region.
