The New Larabanga Chief Imam Alhaji Mahama Mumuni Zankawah has paid a curtesy call on Yagbongwura on Monday 2nd August, 2021 at the Jakpa Palace.
Per the customs and traditions of Gonja’s, every Monday is a traditional day for sub chiefs to meet and greet the overlord and to also interact with the king.
The new Larabanga cheif Imam Alhaji Mahama Mumuni Zankawah took the opportunity to visit and formally introduce himself as the chief Imam of Larabanga after his coronation to the King and overlord of the Gonja kingdom yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa ‘I’.
In his address, Alhaji Mumuni Zankawah said he came to thank the Yagbonwura for sending a powerful delegation to his coronation and to also inform the King that the coronation was successful.
Alhaji Zankawah said the people of Larabanga and for that matter the Kamara’s and their brothers Sakpari’s are spiritual advisors to the King, and that they made prayers for and travelled with the founder of the Gonja kingdom Sumaila Ndewura Jakpa to settle in the current day Gonjaland.
He said the Kamara’s and the Sakpari’s therefore play a key role in the Gonja Kingdom hence he is ready to work with the Yagbonwura as their forefathers did for the betterment of Gonjaland.
The Larabanga chief Imam Alhaji Zankawah and his delegation made some intercessory prayers for the Yagbonwura and the entire gonjaland.
The Yagbonwura expressed his appreciation for the visit and congratulated and wished Alhaji Zankawa well in his new office as the chief Imam of Larabanga.
The King and overlord of Gonja kingdom His Royal Majesty Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa ‘I’ assured Alhaji Zankawa that he will work with him to ensure the spiritual and moral growth of the people of Gonjaland.
