Ten communities in the Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency of the North Gonja District in the Savannah Region are set to benefit from a rural telephony project by the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), following efforts by the Member of Parliament for the area, Alhaji Shaibu Mahama Obei.

The initiative is aimed to significantly improve mobile network connectivity and communication services in the beneficiary communities in the Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency.

The Savannah Regional Director of GIFEC, Wahab Legma, together with his technical team, completed a site inspection and coordinate-picking exercise for the approved communities on March 15, 2026.

The communities selected for the project include Kuporto, Yazori, Bawena, Jinfronu, Gurbagu, Somun, Sagya, Mempeasem, Bombon, and Kitoe.

The exercise forms part of preparatory activities toward the installation of rural telephony infrastructure in these areas.

The rural telephony project aims to enhance communication connectivity across the constituency, enabling residents to access mobile network services that support social interaction, business activities, education, and emergency communication.

Improved connectivity is also expected to promote socio-economic development within the beneficiary communities.

Officials say the initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to addressing development challenges facing rural communities, including limited network coverage and infrastructure deficits.

The Office of the Member of Parliament for Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency expressed optimism that the project will bring relief to residents and contribute to improving livelihoods across the constituency.

The Communications Officer and Public Relations Officer to the MP, Alhaji Jabaru John, in a statement, reaffirmed the commitment of the MP and the government to continue pursuing development initiatives that address key challenges such as road infrastructure, communication networks, and electricity access in the constituency.
