The former Hon. Member of Parliament for the Damongo constituency, Adam Mutawakilu (Galus) has expressed his disappointment of some NDC constituency aspirants who are going round fabricating lies that they supported Galus with some motorbikes during the 2020 elections. He such characters should put a stop to it or be summoned before the elders of the party.
Adam Mutawakilu said this on Damongo based community radio station PADFM 95.1mhz on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.
The former ranking member of mines and energy noted that the claims by such characters have gotten to a point that he can no longer remain quite and the manner in which the news is circulating in the constituency needs to be cleared once and for all.
“I have heard several false claims and reports levelled against me. I really didn’t want to comment but the manner in which such false claims is growing, I can’t just keep quiet because if I’m quite, it will indicate that what they are saying is true”
He urged the public especially, NDC faithfuls, to disregard such false claims from that group of aspirants who are using his name to campaign for their constituency elections, noting that no aspirants have supported him with motorbikes during the 2020 campaign.
“Some aspirants are going round telling delegates that they bought seven (7) motorbikes for Galus during the 2020 elections but deep down their hearts, they know very well that they are peddling falsehood. l am pleading to such individuals to put a stop to it. They should not think that insulting Galus will win them votes”.
Adam Mutawakilu Galus therefore, cautioned branch executives not to be deceived by any aspirant who claims he supported him during the 2020 elections with motorbikes. Such false claims are not true, such aspirants didn’t support me with even bicycles, let alone motorcycle, he further stated.
He encouraged aspirants to campaign with practical campaign messages and stop running campaigns on deceit and insults. He stressed that he won’t decline from anything said about him that is true and will always testify to the truth when the it is told.
The former Damongo constituency lawmaker however warned that he won’t hesitate to expose or bring out names of people who lie against him and want to tannish his image before elders of the party if the damage continues as the campaign for constituency positions heats up.
Adam Mutawakilu Galus assured the public that he remains calm and simple to approach, saying ‘I have been a DCE and a two term MP, so I know what it takes to work with the grassroot’ and encouraged party members to remain calm with a united front, working for the next general elections. The NDC is a big party in the hence needs to remain resolute for victory in 2024.
Galus congratulated branch executives who have been elected and commended the constituency executives for supervising a successful branch elections, and wished the constituency aspirants the best of luck in the up coming elections.
