Samuel Abu Jinapor has been re-elected as the Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency after securing 16,222 votes, representing 52.82% of the total votes cast.
His closest contender, Adam Mutawakilu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), garnered 14,425 votes (46.97%), while independent candidate Saaka Baba Moses managed just 66 votes, or 0.2%.
Announcing the results, Savannah Regional Electoral Commission Director Johnson Akafiu confirmed the figures and highlighted that two polling stations—Almanara Primary School and L/A Primary School at Kambape—were excluded from the final tally due to inconclusive results. These stations represent a voter population of 1,020.
According to Akafiu, even if all votes from these polling stations were hypothetically awarded to Mutawakilu, he would still fall short of Jinapor’s 16,222 votes, ensuring the incumbent’s clear victory.
In his statement, Akafiu said, “Following the collation of the results for the parliamentary election, Samuel Abu Jinapor received 16,222 votes, Adam Mutawakilu received 14,425 votes, and Saaka Baba Moses received 66 votes. The winner of this election is Samuel Abu Jinapor, who is the MP-elect for the Damongo Constituency.”
Supporters, including regional executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed their gratitude to the people of Damongo for their confidence in Jinapor. They commended his commitment to development and pledged renewed efforts to serve the constituency better in the next parliamentary term.
