Deputy Savannah Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ridwan Afeso Abubakari, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Regional Communications Director, pledging to spearhead a new era of political communication ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In a press release under the theme “A New Vision for Political Communications in the Savannah Region Connect, Communicate & Compel for Victory 2028,” Ridwan Afeso emphasized the need for a purposeful and modernized approach to messaging following the NPP’s performance in the 2024 polls.

“This is more than a role; it is a commitment to revolutionize our narrative. We must harness the power of communication to challenge dominant ideologies, mobilize the masses, and redefine the terms of the debate,” he said.
Afeso outlined a six-point plan to guide his vision for the directorate:
1. Strengthen connections between party leadership and communicators.
2. Provide training and essential resources for communication teams.
3. Amplify local voices and community-centered storytelling.
4. Leverage technology and new media to reach every voter.
5. Promote transparency and accountability in party messaging.
6. Empower female communicators to take up active leadership roles.
He noted that effective communication would be crucial in rebuilding trust, reshaping perceptions, and energizing the party base across the Savannah Region.
With more than a decade of experience in political communication spanning radio, television, social media, and grassroots mobilization. PAfeso said his leadership would be rooted in action, not experimentation.
He recalled his instrumental role in reshaping the NPP’s image in the Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency before 2016, describing it as one of the toughest yet most defining chapters of his communication career.
“I have consistently told the NPP story in ways that connect to the daily lives of our people,” he stated. “That legacy continues to guide how many young communicators in the region operate today.”
Ridwan Afeso also paid tribute to past regional communication directors who mentored him including Mohammed Abdul-Kudus, the late Issahaku Abdul-Latif, Mohammed Issah, Sule Salifu, and Frederick Abukari Tahiru acknowledging their influence on his growth and vision.
The aspiring communications director highlighted his commitment to nurturing emerging communicators through the Dream Patriots, a youth group he founded to train and mentor passionate party communicators.
Armed with an academic background in Public Administration and Information Studies, and professional experience as a learning facilitator, Ridwan Afeso says he brings both the strategic insight and people-centered approach needed to lead the NPP’s communication efforts effectively.
“Let’s co-create a future where information becomes a force for social change, community empowerment, and collective progress,” he urged party members.
As the NPP repositions itself for the 2028 elections, Afeso’s declaration has already stirred conversation among party faithful in the Savannah Region, many of whom see his bid as a rallying call for renewal, innovation, and unity.
