A dedicated nurse from the Bole District Hospital has brought national recognition to his facility after winning two major awards at the 2026 Ghana Medical Health Awards held in Accra.
Joshua Amele Dordoye, a Registered General Nurse with 13 years of professional experience, was honoured with the coveted titles of Overall Health Personality of the Year and General Nurse of the Year. The awards recognise his exceptional contribution to healthcare delivery and commitment to improving patient outcomes.

The awards ceremony, organised by Apex Africa Concept, celebrates outstanding health professionals across Ghana who have demonstrated excellence, dedication, and innovation in the healthcare sector.
Mr Dordoye’s latest achievement adds to a growing list of recognitions. In 2025, he was named Best Nurse/Midwife in the Bole District, highlighting his consistent dedication to patient care and professional standards.
Speaking after receiving the awards, Mr Dordoye expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed his commitment to quality healthcare.

“I am very happy and honoured to receive these prestigious awards. It is a great recognition of my commitment to providing quality nursing care to my patients to help them recover quickly. It also reflects my effort to ensure that the necessary materials and support needed to deliver effective nursing and medical services are available,” he said.
He emphasised that the recognition goes beyond personal achievement and reflects the collective effort of the hospital staff.

“These awards mean a lot to me personally and to the entire hospital. They have helped to raise the image of the hospital as one of the best safe care Level 4 hospitals in the region. It also highlights the dedication and hard work of the staff, showing that our collective efforts in delivering quality healthcare are being recognised,” he added.
The recognition also comes at a time when Bole District Hospital is gaining attention for its improved healthcare standards. In its most recent SafeCare Level 4 assessment, the hospital achieved an improved score, making it likely the only health facility in the region to reach that level of performance.
Mr Dordoye’s accomplishment is widely seen as a reflection of the hospital’s growing reputation for quality healthcare and the unwavering dedication of its staff to improving health outcomes in Bole District and neighbouring communities.
