The Member of Parliament for Damongo, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, has commenced a major repair exercise targeting all nonfunctional streetlights along the main roads of Damongo, beginning with the Canteen Road.

The exercise, which officially started at the Disco 7 section of the Canteen Road, aims to restore and replace faulty streetlights to improve visibility and security in the area. This effort comes as a direct response to longstanding concerns raised by residents about poor lighting conditions along key routes in the township.

Leading the supervision of the ongoing works were key constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including the Constituency Secretary, Treasurer, and Communications Director, who were on-site to ensure the project progresses efficiently.

For months, residents along the Canteen stretch and other main roads in Damongo have endured unsafe conditions due to the lack of functional streetlights. The absence of lighting has contributed to an increase in security threats, leaving pedestrians and road users vulnerable, especially at night.

The initiative by Hon. Jinapor, who also serves as the ranking member on the Foreign Affairs Committee of Ghana’s parliament, has been widely welcomed and seen as a step toward restoring safety and improving the overall environment of the municipality.
