In celebration of World Radio Day, the Ghana Community Radio Network (GCRN) gathered to commemorate not only the global significance of radio but also the network’s remarkable 25-year journey of service to communities across Ghana on 13th February, 2024

Under the leadership of Togbui Selete Nyomi, Chair of the Executive Council of GCRN, the event was a testament to the enduring power of radio in informing, entertaining, and educating the masses.

In his message, Togbui Selete Nyomi paid tribute to the pioneers and advocates who have tirelessly championed the cause of radio, ensuring its role as a vital medium for social change and community empowerment. He emphasized the invaluable contributions of those who have dedicated their lives to upholding truth and justice through the airwaves.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of technological advancements in shaping the landscape of radio, Togbui Selete Nyomi also recognized the efforts of technical experts whose innovations have propelled the medium forward, making it more accessible and impactful than ever before.

Reflecting on GCRN’s quarter-century journey, Togbui Selete Nyomi expressed gratitude to member stations for their unwavering dedication to the principles of community radio. He highlighted the network’s role as a voice for the marginalized and a platform for the unheard, advocating for inclusivity and social justice.

As the event concluded, Togbui Selete Nyomi urged continued commitment to the sustainable development goals and the values of integrity, diversity, and inclusivity that have defined GCRN’s legacy. He emphasized the ongoing mission to use the power of radio to foster unity, understanding, and positive change in Ghanaian society.

In celebration of World Radio Day and GCRN’s 25th anniversary, the event served as a poignant reminder of the transformative impact of radio and the enduring legacy of community-driven broadcasting in Ghana.
