In a spectacular event on Saturday, January 27, 2024, Sir Martin’s Memorial School in Damongo marked its fifth anniversary with a grand Awards and Dinner Night, honoring the dedication of its teaching and non-teaching staff.
The event celebrated the school’s achievements in shaping young minds and fostering a commitment to community and environmental responsibility.

Madam Joana Wuria Ewuntomah, the school’s proprietress, expressed gratitude for the school’s success and recognized the vision of providing recognition to hardworking staff.

Madam Joana appreciated the commitment, patience and hard work of the teaching staff, noting that the school’s ethos of “learning by doing” has shaped pupils into global citizens and also emphasized that the evening served as both recognition of past achievements and motivation for educators to continue their impactful work.
She concluded by affirming the school’s commitment to providing holistic education, fostering values that create responsible and capable individuals.
Mr. Roland Baba, the training officer at the West Gonja Municipal Education Directorate, expressed gratitude for the initiative and assured the school of the directorate’s support.
During the Awards and Dinner Night, parents, school staff, and key stakeholders in education celebrated the outstanding contributions of the teachers.
The highlight of the night was the recognition of outstanding teachers with awards ranging from certificates, hampers, ceiling fans, TV sets, standing fans, refrigerators, to the ultimate prize – a brand-new Luojia Mapuka motorbike which went to Mr. Mahama Ganiu, who was crowned as the overall best teacher of the year.
