The Parish Priest of the Martyrs of Uganda parish in Bole in the Savannah region, Very Rev. Fr. Lazarus Annyereh has inaugurated a 19 member Youth Council of the parish at Bole on Sunday, April 30, 2023.
For the past six(6) years, the Martyrs of Uganda parish has been without a youth council due to some pastoral challenges that confronted the parish. This has adversely impeded the social and spiritual development of the youth in the parish.
Speaking at the inauguration, Rev. Fr. Lazarus Annyereh charged the newly constituted council to keep faith and ensure that the council does not go to slumber and also encouraged them to hold onto God for wisdom and direction.
On his part, the newly inducted chairman, Mr. Sulemana Solomon Kponkpori lamented over the non-existence of a Parish Youth Council (P.Y.C) over the past six (6) years.
Moving forward, Mr. Sulemana assured the youth of the parish of a comprehensive programme which will be focused on the spiritual and social development of the youth of the parish.
He promised to empower every youth of the parish to actively serve the parish community through innovative ways in order to develop self-skills, confidence and peer leadership, preparing them to face the challenges of the world today.
The Martyrs of Uganda Parish Youth Council now have Rev. Fr. Fulgence Dongkore as chaplain, Mr. Sulemana Solomon Kponkpori as Chairman and Miss Evelyn Bamissi Gbolo as vice chairperson.
