Farmers in the Sor Electoral area in the West Gonja municipality has eulogized Abu Jinapor, the member of parliament for Damongo for deploying a tractor to the area to support them plough their farmlands.
The services of the tractor commenced in the electoral area on Saturday, 29th April, 2023.
In 2020,the then deputy chief of staff and now MP for Damongo in his 2020 campaign stated that supporting farmers in the constituency was his topmost priority as it will help enhance rural development and alleviate poverty in agricultural communities.
After winning the Damongo parliamentary seat, he has been on top of his promises especially in the area of Agriculture to betterment of the lives of the people in his constituency.
Abu Jinapor who doubles as the Minister for lands and Natural Resources has since 2021 supported farmers in his constituency with fertilizer, Agro chemicals, cutlasses, wallington boots and tractors to help reduce the high cost of ploughing that has bedeviled farmers in his constituency in recent times.
The support will be very beneficial for farmers, as it will help farmers to save time and efforts compared to using traditional manual methods and the challenges of financial incapabilities of farmers to employ the services of private tractor operators to plough for them.
The Assemblyman for the Sori electoral area, Mr. Seidu Fusieni who spoke with this reporter on behalf of his people thanked the MP for his continuous support to Farmers in the area and said, the kind gesture of the MP will help reduce the struggles the people go through in their ploughing processes.
He also stated that, the Sori electoral area used to be one of the leading hubs for farm produce when it comes to farming in the constituency and therefore encouraged people in the electoral area to take advantage of the MP’s intervention.
He urged that, they continue to pray for the Member of Parliament and pleaded with the MP to continue to support the people, noting that it should be continuous with a request that the tractor be stationed in the area to farm both groundnut and maize for the rest of the farming season.
According to some of the Farmers, they have not regretted voting for the MP, noting that he has been very supportive in elevating their life’s and improving their income.
Abu Jinapor’s constant support to farmers in his constituency over the years demonstrates his commitment to supporting local agriculture and the livelihoods of farmers in the area.
To ensure that the services of the tractor meets the demands of farmers in the constituency, the tractor is expected to plough two acres of land for each farmer with the farmer bearing full responsibility of the fuel cost of the tractor while the MP bears the cost of ploughing.
